How to Measure at Home

1. Wrap & Mark

Wrap a piece of string or a thin strip of paper around the base of the finger you wish to measure. Mark the point where the ends overlap.

2. Measure

Unroll the string or paper and measure the length from the end to your pen mark in millimeters (mm) using a standard ruler.

3. Convert

Use our international conversion chart below to match your measurement (in mm) to the corresponding US or International ring size.

Shopping for the Perfect Ring: Together or as a Surprise?

Welcome to Leblanc Jewellers, your trusted experts in fine jewelry. With our rich legacy and dedicated team of gemologists and master crafters, we understand the immense significance of selecting an engagement ring. Whether you decide to embark on this journey together or keep the proposal a complete surprise, we are here to guide you every step of the way.

The Modern Approach: Choosing Together

While traditional proposals were historically kept a secret, modern couples are increasingly discussing marriage openly and choosing the ring together. This collaborative approach offers several wonderful benefits:

  • Shared Experience: Selecting a ring together serves as a beautiful bonding moment.
  • Stress-Free Selection: Openly discussing styles, budget, and sizing removes the pressure of guessing your partner's exact preferences.
  • The Perfect Fit: Trying on rings together guarantees the ideal fit on the very first try, eliminating the need for later resizing.
  • Bespoke Design: It allows you both to collaborate on a custom, bespoke design that holds deep sentimental value for your shared future.

A Timeless Tradition: Keeping It a Surprise

For many romantics, the element of surprise is paramount to the perfect proposal. If you prefer this traditional route, consider the unique advantages:

  • A Romantic Reveal: Surprising your partner showcases your profound thoughtfulness, love, and dedication.
  • A Personal Touch: It gives you the exclusive opportunity to carefully curate a ring that perfectly reflects your partner's distinct style and personality.
  • Complete Control: You have the freedom to manage the design process and budget privately.

Making Your Decision

Ultimately, there is no wrong choice. If you choose to shop together, you ensure exact preferences are met. If you shop alone, you preserve the magic of the unexpected proposal. Whichever path you choose, the experts at Leblanc Jewellers are ready to assist you in making it a flawless experience.

Pro Tips for the Perfect Fit

Temperature Matters: Measure your fingers at the end of the day when they are warm. Cold fingers are smaller.
Measure Twice: Measure 3 to 4 times for accuracy to avoid incorrect readings.
Knuckle Size: If your knuckle is significantly larger than the base of your finger, measure both and choose a size in between.
Wide Bands: When measuring for a wide band (over 4mm), consider sizing up by a half size.
